Hi

I’m back! How is 2023 treating you? Or, better yet, how are YOU treating 2023? Hopefully, you’ve been good to each other.

Here are five things that nabbed my attention and may hook you as well. Enjoy and be inspired!

Jessica and I recently watched the new show "Wednesday," based on "The Addams Family" which, as you well know, is based on the fact that the whole family is weird. But that's not the weird thing. Thing is the weird thing.

How is it that Thing is my favorite character? Furthermore, how is it that the weirdest character in the whole Addams Family (in my opinion) is the most relatable and real?

As you may know, I’m sending my “Oddballs” zine to all my paid subscribers. My super-talented buddy J. created an animation using my simple line-drawn cover. I love it when people do interesting and creative stuff, especially when I have some part in it.

I like the feel and style of the song “Texas Sun” Khruangbin and Leon Bridges. Yes, I live in Texas, but there’s more to it than that. The cover artwork is fun, looks like the old 1975 edition of the board game “Payday.” The Khruangbin website is neat as well.

I don’t know how I stumbled upon “Mr Ozio - Flat beat.” It’s a video of a techno song featuring a puppet. The video has over 50 million views! You never know what people will like, so why not try something you like and see how people respond? Just don’t spend too much time on it… I speak from experience.

I’m listening to “Tantalus Depths” by Evan Graham. In it, a character mentions a Dyson Sphere. Have you ever heard of it? I haven’t, until now. The concept is crazy BUT could be crazy enough to work (or at least the Dyson Swarm might). Yet, any civilization that uses that much energy would surely destroy itself either in the production of it or the harnessing of the power. What do you think?

On a different note, check out the character illustrations from the author’s website.

Thank you for reading and for your support. Keep on keepin’ on!

Jason

From “Oddballs” to you.
